1-year-old girl dies after being found with injuries in West Ridge, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A death investigation is underway after a 1-year-old baby girl was found with injuries Saturday morning on the city's North Side and later died.

She was found around 11:40 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Rosemont Avenue in West Ridge, Chicago police said.

The victim had visible injuries to her lower body, police said.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 1-year-old Maombi Joyeuse.

Chicago police are conducting a death investigation pending a full autopsy.
