
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Monday is Pulaski Day.
The holiday celebrates the Polish-American Revolutionary War Hero Casimir Pulaski.
General Pulaski is recognized as the "Father of the American Cavalry."
There will be several public commemorations including a ceremony at the Polish Museum of America on North Milwaukee Avenue at 10 a.m.
Pulaski Day is celebrated on the first Monday in March. Some government offices are closed Monday, but Chicago Public Schools remain in session.
