Chopper 7 over I-80 crash involving semi, bus in south suburbs

WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A crash involving a semi and a bus shut down I-80 in the south suburbs, IDOT said.

The crash happened on at about 7:26 a.m. on Thursday on the westbound lanes of I-80 between Gougar Road and Cherry Hill Road.

Illinois State Police said four vehicles were involved in the crash: a semi, a bus and two passenger vehicles.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 8:15 a.m. A bus was seen with damage to the front and back end.

IDOT told ABC7 the bus involved in the crash was a Pace bus. ISP said nobody was on the bus.

One person was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Their condition was not immediately known.

The semi hauling a container was also seen being towed.

The crash caused a miles-long back up on the westbound lanes.

At about 8:24 a.m. workers reopened one lane for traffic.
