COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- All southbound lanes of Interstate 57 have reopened after a deadly crash on Sunday, police said.

The crash happened at about 4:07 a.m. north of Vollmer Road near Country Club Hills, according to police.

Illinois State Police said a crash happened and one of the occupants got out of their car and was struck by a passing vehicle.

One person died and another was taken to an area hospital.

The medical examiner identified the man who died as Riley Vercher, 25, of Park Forest.

ISP said I-57 southbound was closed at Interstate 80. The I-80 ramp to I-57 southbound was also closed as of 7:30 a.m.

ABC7 was at the scene as officers investigated at about 6:45 a.m.

Multiple vehicles were seen with damage across the highway.

All lanes reopened at about 10:10 a.m., police said.
