Chicago chef turns up the heat for National Grilling Month

CHICAGO (WLS) -- July is National Grilling Month, and Chef Namhee Kim of Daebak Korean BBQ is bringing the heat with her signature spicy grilled pork.

Live on ABC7 Eyewitness news, the Wicker Park chef showed off the art of Korean BBQ, where the grill is at the center of the table and the meal is meant to be shared. Inspired by recipes passed down from her 102-year-old grandmother, Kim says every dish at Daebak is about connection and flavor.

Daebak opened two years ago and has become a local favorite. This past weekend, her team also served fans at Soldier Field during a major Chicago food event.
