Bicyclist critically injured by pickup truck in Heart of Chicago hit-and-run crash, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man riding a bicycle was hit and critically injured by a pickup truck that fled the scene Saturday afternoon on the city's Lower West Side.

The hit-and-run crash happened around 3:13 p.m. in the 2300 block of West 21st Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, Chicago police said.

A Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound on 21st street when it struck a 59-year-old man riding a bicycle, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The vehicle fled the scene northbound on Western Avenue, CPD said.

No arrests have been made as Chicago police continue to investigate.
