Man charged in alleged hate crime stabbing on NW Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man is facing hate crime charges after allegedly stabbing a woman on Chicago's Northwest Side last month, Chicago police said.

Police said the stabbing happened in the Portage Park neighborhood's 5700-block of West Addison Street just after 11 p.m. on July 8.

Andres Stathoulopoulos, 20, said a racial slur before stabbing a 42-year-old woman, police said.

Stathoulopoulos, who lives in Portage Park, was arrested in Schiller Park on the evening of July 30.

He is facing two Hate Crime charges and one charge of Aggravated Battery/Use Deadly Weapon.

Police did not immediately provide further information.
