Armando Lopez, 19 at the time of the shooting, was initially charged as the alleged getaway driver.

He was suspected of driving the Jeep allegedly used in the drive-by shooting, but prosecutors say someone else likely fired the shots.

Nearly six years after Aguilar's death, Lopez pleaded guilty on Thursday to murder.

A judge sentenced him to 25 years in IDOC. He will be given credit for the 2,125 days he has already served.

Authorities previously said Lopez might have mistakenly believed Aguilar was a rival.

Aguilar was a registered nurse and worked at Misericordia Home.
