Group uses vehicle to smash into gas station in Chatham, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating a smash-and-grab on the South Side on Sunday morning.

Police said a white Jeep repeatedly slammed into a business around 7:01 a.m. in the 400 block of East 87th Street.

Four people then jumped out of two vehicles and went into the gas station, CPD said.

Investigators said the group left the Jeep behind and took off in a red Acura SUV.

It's not yet clear whether anything was stolen.

Chicago police continue to investigate.
