CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago police officer was struck by a vehicle driven by suspects in a crash-and-grab burglary that prompted a police chase Thursday morning on the Northwest Side, officials said.

The incident occurred at about 4:26 a.m. at a GameStop store in the 2900-block of West Addison Street.

Chopper7 flew above the seen Thursday morning, showing the front of a GameStop store damaged from the burglary.

Police said the armed burglary suspects got into a white Chrysler sedan and a red Jeep SUV and struck an officer as they fled.

The officer fired a gun as the officer was struck by the vehicle, but no one was shot, police said.

The officer who was struck by the vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers pursued the suspects and during the chase, a squad car was struck by a civilian vehicle not connected to the crime, police said. No injuries were reported.

Neighbors said it is not the first time the store has been targeted. Kyle Pucciarello lives right by this Addison Strip Mall.

"Honestly, I thought, 'They got the GameStop again, didn't they?'" Pucciarello said.

The mall's parking lot was buzzing with police officers and detectives investigating a smash and grab at a GameStop.

What looked like a game console rested on the ground with an evidence market right next to it.

"This is not the first time that someone has hit the GameStop in the past five years, so it's not too surprising," Pucciarello said. " But to see all this police activity going on out here and the police response is kind of shocking."

Mall property owner Edward Dushman wasn't mincing words as he arrived on scene.

"I'm a fifth generation Chicagoan," Dushman said. "I was born here. My grandparents, my great grandparents and what we are putting up with is ridiculous and something has to change."

No one is in custody and the Investigating Response Team is investigating. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is also investigating.
