Child, 6, wounded in shooting on Bishop Ford, Illinois State Police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 6-year-old child was wounded in a shooting on the Bishop Ford Freeway Monday night, Illinois State Police said.

The shooting took place at about 7:11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-94 at Michigan Avenue.

Further details on the condition of the child and the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available.

Police conducted a canvas of the roadway and traffic was diverted off at I-94 northbound to the I-57 split. Lanes were back open at about 11:35 p.m.
