CHICAGO (WLS) -- Things are heating up in Chicago this week.
ABC7 Chicago meteorologists have issued an AccuWeather Alert for Monday through Thursday for extreme heat.
ABC7's Jaisol Martinez said heat index values will be between 100 and 105 degrees.
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Cook County from noon Monday until 10 p.m. Wednesday.
The NWS also issued a Heat Advisory for Boone, McHenry, Lake (Ill.), DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Will, Lake (Ind.), Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Benton counties from noon Monday until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures will remain in the 70s and 80s on Sunday before they shift higher on Monday, Martinez said.
There is a chance for storms on Sunday, with areas west and north of the city under a Level 1 risk for severe weather.
ABC7 is also watching the chance for storms later in the week, on Saturday.

It is important to watch for signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion as temperatures increase.
The best way to avoid heat related illness and stay safe during the heat wave is to stay indoors and use fans and air conditioning to keep your home cool, limit your time outdoors, stay out of the sun, and drinks lots of water and fluids to remain hydrated. Also check on your relatives and neighbors, especially if they are elderly.
