Chicago area to celebrate Labor Day holiday with parades
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Festivals and parades across the Chicago area are celebrating the Labor Day holiday.
A cherished Labor Day tradition returns to Chicago's North Side as the Wellington-Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society, lovingly known as WOOGMS, steps off Monday morning.

The do-it-yourself parade encourages everyone to become a marcher, not just a spectator.
This year's parade begins at 11 a.m. at the corner of Wellington and Pine Grove. It ends just south of Oakdale.
It's the last day of Naperville's Last Fling event and this morning it kicks off with a Labor Day Parade.

The parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Naperville North High School.
People can expect to see all sorts of floats, driving through the city's downtown area.
As for the festival, it features music, food, and plenty of carnival rides.
The money raised from Last Fling goes back to the community and surrounding organizations.
In Schaumburg, the holiday celebration continues with a parade and one final day of Septemberfest.
The annual Labor Day parade steps off this morning at 10 a.m. Then later Monday night, E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg and his Jukebox will close out the festival with a performance at 7:30 a.m..
Lowell, Indiana will hold its 107th annual Labor Day Parade, beginning at 10 a.m. at Commercial Avenue and Deanna Drive.
And in Chicago, Monday is the last day for the beaches to be open for swimming. Starting Tuesday, lifeguards will no longer be on duty and swimming will not be permitted, though the lakefront and beach areas remain open.
