Convicted felon charged in boy's death after CTA station fall

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A convicted felon charged in the death of a 9-year-old boy after a fall at a downtown CTA station last month is out of jail awaiting trial.

Police say Michael Korosa, 52, of Chicago used his walking cane to attack a man who was carrying the child at the Clinton Green Line station in the 500-block of West Lake Street Aug. 10.

That caused the boy, Elijah Flores, to fall down a flight of stairs. He fractured his skull and died a few days later.

Police say the 9-year-old boy was with a 22-year-old man who got into an argument with two others along the Green Line.

Korosa has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in the incident.

He has served time for drug possession, theft and aggravated battery.

He was arrested Saturday in Chicago and appeared in court Monday.

The state filed a petition to detain Korosa, but a judge released him.

He's next due in court Thursday.
