1 killed in Back of the Yards drive-by shooting, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed in a drive-by shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Sunday night, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 9:52 p.m. in the 800-block of West Garfield Boulevard.

Police said a 43-year-old man was standing outside when a white SUV approached and someone inside opened fire, hitting the man in in the stomach.

The man asked a CTA bus driver for help, who called 911, police said. The man was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.
