20-year-old man shot, killed on Northwest Side, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday on the city's Northwest Side.

The shooting happened around 5:08 p.m. in the 3100 block of North Nottingham Avenue in the Montclare area, Chicago police said.

A 20-year-old male victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a 20-year-old male offender. The altercation turned physical when the offender produced a firearm and fired a gunshot in the victim's direction. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his chest. The victim was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition where he was later pronounced. The offender was placed into custody by responding officers. Area Five Detectives are investigating.
