Man fatally shot on front porch of home in West Garfield Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after being shot on the front porch of a home Sunday afternoon on the city's West Side.

The shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. in the 4400 block of West Monroe Street in West Garfield Park, Chicago police said.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was on the front porch of a residence when he was shot on the right side of his chest, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

There was no information about an offender in the shooting.

Chicago police continue to investigate.
