A 17-year-old boy is charged with multiple felony counts, including two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated armed vehicular hijacking, and one count of attempted aggravated armed vehicular hijacking, Chicago police said.

The first incident took place at about 3:49 a.m. on February 11 in the 700-block of Waveland Avenue.

Police said a 22-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were both inside a parked vehicle when two armed male suspects approached.

The suspects demanded the victims' vehicle and shot the 22-year-old man in the chest and back, police said. He was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The 38-year-old man was not injured, police said.

The suspects took the victims' vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Darwin Tirado, 22, was the man shot and killed, family members say.

The suspects in the deadly North Side carjacking were also the suspects in a second deadly shooting later the same morning on the South Side, police said.

Damon Kellum, 45, was found with a gunshot wound to the head near East 37th Street and South Lake Park Avenue in the city's Oakland neighborhood around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Near the scene, authorities found a vehicle that matched the description of one stolen during the deadly Lakeview carjacking earlier that morning.

And police say the charged 17-year-old suspect wasn't finished.

He was one of the offenders involved in another carjacking and an attempted carjacking on the South Side, Chicago police said.

An investigation into the crime spree continues.
