Man killed, woman shot on same block on South Side, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating after a man was shot to death on the South Side Saturday.

The deadly shooting happened at about 2:55 a.m. in the 4800-block of South Princeton Avenue, police said.

A 25-year-old man was outside when he was struck by gunfire, police said.

The man was shot in the head and was taken to Provident Hospital where he later died.

His identity has not been released.

About 10 minutes later, CPD said a woman was shot on the same block.

The 22-year-old woman was shot in the lower back.

She was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in "fair condition."

Chicago police have not said if the shootings are connected.

Nobody is in custody.
