Shots fired in armed robbery in River North, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are investigating a downtown shooting in an armed robbery on Wednesday.

The shooting happened at about 3:52 a.m. in the 100-block of E. Ontario Street, police said.

A man, 37, and a woman, 36, were in a car when they were rear-ended by a silver sedan.

Four male suspects got out of the car, pulled out guns and demanded the victims' belongings, police said.

One of the suspects fired shots into the ground; police said nobody was shot.

The suspect then fled westbound.

No injuries were reported.

CPD Area Three detectives are investigating.
