Mother of 6 among 2 killed in West Side shooting, Chicago police and her family say
Joanne Perry, 64, was innocent bystander, family says; 25-year-old man also killed
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were shot to death in broad daylight Wednesday on Chicago's West Side, police said.
A mother of six who was killed was an innocent bystander on her way to the store, her family told ABC7.

A 25-year-old man was standing outside around 11:53 a.m. in the 200 block of South Pulaski Road in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood when two unknown male suspects approached.
At least one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot at the man, police said.
The man was shot multiple times and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he died.

A 64-year-old woman was found unresponsive in the 300-block of South Pulaski with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. She was also taken to Mt. Sinai, where she died.
The woman's family identified her to ABC7 as Joanne Perry, a mother of six children and a cancer survivor who was walking to a store at the time of the shooting.
The suspects drove away in a black sedan, traveling south on Pulaski, police said.
Area Four detectives are investigating.
Alderman Jason Ervin of the 28th Ward issued a statement about the shooting, saying "This was a despicable and cowardly act of violence. Our community mourns the loss of innocent life and our hearts go out to their families. I am absolutely outraged, and those responsible must be found and held fully accountable. If anyone has information that can help bring these killers to justice, I urge them to contact law enforcement immediately. We cannot allow those who commit such disgraceful, senseless crimes to get away with them."
At about the same time, three people were hurt in a drive-by shooting in a Humboldt Park parking lot, police said. CPD did not say if the shooting were related.
