Child struck by vehicle, critically injured in Montgomery, police say

MONTGOMERY, Ill. (WLS) -- A young person was hit and seriously hurt while crossing the road in Montgomery Thursday, police said.

The incident occurred on U.S. Route 30 just east of Orchard Road.

Police said the juvenile was crossing the road when he was struck and transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

Police closed that area for hours for their investigation, but it has since reopened.
