Couple from Chicago found dead after going missing for weeks in Mexico: family

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago couple that moved to Mexico and disappeared has been found dead, family said.

Zafar Padamsee Mawani and Guillermo Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz had not been seen since late May.

ABC7 spoke to Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz's niece, who said the married couple just moved from Chicago to Mexico in October. They were living in a neighborhood in the far southern part of Mexico City.

The men were apparently going to get equipment from an alleged contractor for an elderly mother with Alzheimer's before they went missing.
