Couple from Chicago missing in Mexico City, family says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A couple from Chicago have gone missing in Mexico.

Family and friends of the two lifelong Chicago men are now asking American authorities for help.

The two men have been missing since last Wednesday.

Photos were shared by investigators in Mexico City, identifying Zafar Padamsee Mawani and Guillermo Jaffet Hidalgo Ortiz of Chicago.

ABC7 spoke to Guillermo's niece on Wednesday, who said the married couple just moved from Chicago to Mexico in October. They currently live in a neighborhood in the far southern part of Mexico City.

The men were apparently going to get equipment from an alleged contractor for an elderly mother with alzheimers, and they have been missing ever since.

ABC7 reached out to the Mexican consulate and State Department for more information about the case.
