CTA bus crash leaves at least 6 hurt on South Side, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least six passengers were hurt in a head-on crash involving a CTA bus on Monday morning.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at 82nd and Jeffery in South Chicago at about 7 a.m.

A 19-year-old was driving a red Jeep, made a U-turn and slammed into the bus, Chicago police said.

The driver of the jeep and the bus operator were also hurt.

The injured passengers included a 16-year-old girl, four women aged 34, 59, 44 and 27; and a 28-year-old man, police said.

All were taken to area hospitals and are expected to be OK.

No citations were issued, police said.
