DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- A person was hospitalized after a police-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in the north suburbs.

Police asked the public to avoid an area on Touhy Avenue between Des Plaines River Road and Scott Street in Des Plaines.

Des Plaines police officers responded around 2:32 p.m. to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 2000 block of Touhy Avenue. A large police presence could be seen in the area.

A male resident of a home was injured after a shooting involving a Des Plaines police officer, officials said.

The person was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.

There was no current threat to the public, officials said.
