Driver crashes into parked Chicago police squad car on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An officer was unharmed after the driver of a Jeep allegedly crashed into a parked CPD squad car on the South Side.

The crash happened at about 1:20 a.m. in the 800 block of E 76th Street, police said.

Police said a 38-year-old man was driving a Jeep SUV eastbound on 76th Street.

The driver then allegedly swerved to the opposite side of the street and crashed into a marked Chicago Police Department vehicle that was parked.

CPD said there was ab officer inside the squad car at the time of the crash. They were treated and released on scene by the Chicago Fire Department.

The 38-year-old driver was placed into custodyand taken to Jackson Park Hospital.

At last check, police said he was in good condition.

CPD said the driver was issued six citations.
