

ITASCA, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois State Police troopers were on the scene for hours after a semi rolled over, spilling its load of concrete bricks Monday on westbound Interstate 290 in the north suburbs.
The crash took place at Thorndale in Itasca around 11:15 a.m., state police said.
Chopper 7 was over the scene about noon.
The truck was crashed over the median. Several other vehicles appeared to be damaged.

Illinois State Police said the crash involved 11 vehicles, and eight people were taken to local hospitals.
Four eastbound and three westbound lanes of I-290 and the eastbound ramp from Route 390 to I-290 were closed for the crash investigation.
The lanes reopened about 4 p.m.
It's not immediately clear what led to the crash.
