Police said a driver called to report that someone in a minivan had fired shots at his burgundy Chevy Impala just south of 159th Street (Plaza 41) around 9:13 a.m. Police said the driver had a traffic altercation with a minivan shortly before the shooting. Police have not released a description of the shooter.

Police said the driver was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim's identity has not been released.

Police said there was a child in the backseat of the Chevy who was not injured.

The two right lanes of northbound I-294 were closed for about an hour Monday morning as police searched for shell casings.

The lanes were reopened by noon, but two of the manual cash lanes of the toll plaza remain closed.

State police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them at 630-241-6800.
