
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a shooting that killed a mother of five on the South Side last January.
Eddie Jenkins, 45, faces a first-degree murder charge, among others.
Kiara Jenkins, 36, was shot on her way to church in January near 64th Street and Drexel Avenue in the city's Woodlawn neighborhood.
Jenkins' five children range from a freshman in college to 10 years old.
Eddie Jenkins appeared in court Wednesday and was ordered held pending trial.
According to court documents, he is Jenkins' estranged husband. The two share all five of Jenkins' children.
Court documents show that Kiara Jenkins was planning to get a divorce, and there was a history of domestic violence.
Eddie Jenkins is next due in court on July 22.
