2 swimmers rescued, man missing in Lake Michigan in Evanston

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Two men were rescued from Lake Michigan and a search is underway for another man who went missing Saturday in the north suburbs, fire officials said.

The was a large emergency response beginning at 7 p.m. near Lighthouse Beach in Evanston, 2611 Sheridan Road.

Three men in their 20s were reported as swimmers in distress, officials said.

Two of the men were rescued from the water by other civilians and made it to land safely, but a search is still underway for a third swimmer.

Evanston crews continue to search for the missing man.

According to the fire department, the water was relatively calm closer to shore, but there reports that water conditions were choppy beyond the break wall.
