'Family Guy' cast provides hints for what's to come on new spin-off series 'Stewie'
The new show focused on the Griffin family's youngest member is slated to premiere next year
SAN DIEGO -- The most mischievous member of the Griffin family is getting his own show!
As "Family Guy" heads into the fall with upcoming Halloween and holiday specials, a spin-off show "Stewie" is already in development to finally give the titular toddler his first top billing.
"I know everything, and I can't tell you anything!" Alex Borstein, the voice actress for Stewie's mom Lois Griffin, told On The Red Carpet at San Diego Comic Con.
The team behind the show is still keeping details under wraps, with "Family Guy" creator and Stewie voice actor Seth MacFarlane confirming in an Instagram post. Even his castmates aren't sure what to expect.
"You know what, I did hear," Jennifer Tilly, voice of Bonnie Swanson, said. "'Jennifer, do you want to be in the new Stewie show?' I was like, hell yeah! And then, crickets. I don't know, I think it's going to be very exciting!"
"It looks really funny, I love Stewie," Seth Green, voice of Chris Griffin, added.
The show aims to bring in new characters to allow Stewie to have his own adventures centered around his world. Casting reports include Kenan Thompson, who confirmed his role on social media.
"Somehow I convinced Stewie to let me into his friend circle!" Thompson said in an Instagram post. "Let's do this!"
The show is slated for a two-season run starting next year, with more details likely to come. And while Borstein says that characters from "Family Guy" may cross over, the focus and the tone of the show will be unique to Stewie's character.
"It's great, it's very different," Borstein revealed. "Stewie will not be leaving 'Family Guy.' It just follows him in a different way. I think people are going to like it."
