Six Flags Great America in Gurnee announces 50th anniversary celebrations

GURNEE, Ill. (WLS) -- Six Flags Great America in Gurnee has just announced its 50th anniversary celebration this summer.

The theme park will start the special events June 20and continue the party through August 9.

There's a lineup of entertainment, experiences and bargains for the anniversary extravaganza.

"Fifty years of Six Flags Great America is a celebration of the millions of memories made in our park," said Hardeep Lall, park manager of Six Flags Great America. "This anniversary season is designed to honor our history while offering new ways for guests to experience the park they've loved for decades."

The celebrations include an all new Nighttime Spectacular, anniversary brick program, the return of the Ice Cream parlor, entertainment offerings through the decades and specialty food and beverage options.
