Freight train hits pedestrian near Naperville, causing BNSF delays: Metra

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- A freight train hit a pedestrian in the west suburbs on Monday night, Metra said.

Metra said the collision happened near Naperville.

What led up to the crash was not immediately clear, and the pedestrian's condition was not immediately known.

Metra said BNSF inbound and outbound trains have started moving again after stopping due to the crash.

Those trains may be up to 55 minutes behind schedule.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
