The driver of a silver Toyota 4Runner was heading northbound when they ignored a traffic signal and went through the crosswalk, hitting a 22-year-old man, police said.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified him as Jermaine Martin and ruled his death a homicide.

The driver fled the scene, and no one is in custody, police said. Investigators believe the vehicle is between a 2014 and 2024 model.

Area One detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information.
