Man shot, seriously injured while sitting in car in Humboldt Park: police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot and seriously injured while sitting in his car on Chicago's Northwest Side on Friday night, police said.

Police said officers responded to the shooting near West Division Street and North Harding Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood around 10:45 p.m.

A 20-year-old man was in his vehicle when male suspects pulled up in a dark-colored SUV, police said. Someone in the back seat took out a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in the stomach and arm.

Police said the Chicago Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the man to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

Area Five detectives are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
