WHITESIDE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- An HVAC malfunction is behind a house fire and explosion in Illinois.

Video captured the aftermath in Whiteside County, which is located in the western part of the state.

Investigators say the home collapsed on Thursday.

No one was inside when the explosion happened, and no firefighters were hurt.

Investigators are reminding homeowners to get furnaces, chimneys and units inspected as the weather gets colder.
