Indiana woman charged with making death threats against Trump

WASHINGTON -- An Indiana woman who traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend protests over the weekend was arrested and charged with allegedly posting social media threats targeting President Donald Trump, the D.C. U.S. Attorney's office announced Monday.

Nathalie Jones, 50, allegedly made the threatening posts on Instagram between Aug. 2 and Aug. 9, all of which have since been deleted.

Most of the posts appear to be conspiratorial in nature and driven by Jones' alleged concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic and suggested outlandish scenarios such as former Rep. Liz Cheney being appointed interim president after Trump being removed.

"In an August 6 post directed at the FBI, Nath.Jones wrote that 'I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present,'" the office said.

In an interview with Secret Service last Friday, Jones allegedly said if she had the opportunity she would take Trump's life and would kill him at "the compound," and suggested she would use a "bladed object," prosecutors say.

On Saturday, Jones was taken into custody attending a protest against Trump in Washington, D.C., and in an interview with Secret Service agents, she denied having any present desire to kill Trump, though she again confirmed she was the user of the Instagram account and had posted previous threatening statements.
