
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar will be laid to rest this week.
He died Sunday at the age of 79, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
On Friday, Governor Edgar will lie in-state at the Illinois State Capitol Building where visitors will be able to pay their respects.
Visitors may sign a memorial book and pay their respects between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Central Baptist Church in Springfield.
The Saturday memorial services will be live streamed.
He served as the state's governor from 1991 to 1999.
Edgar was the last Republican governor in Illinois elected to more than one term. He is remembered as someone who served the state well.
