Garbage truck crashes into La Grange antique shop

LA GRANGE PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Police said a garbage truck crashed into a west suburban antique shop on Thursday.

The crash happened at about 8:10 a.m. at the Heart's Desire Antiques shop in the 1000 block of 31st Street, La Grange Park police said.

Police said the driver of a Lakeshore Recycling Systems garbage truck partially struck the building.

Fire officials told ABC7 that a tree limb trapped the driver's leg outside the truck after the crash.

Firefighters were able to quickly free him and he was taken to Loyola Hospital.

Police said the driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

The shop was closed at the time of the crash.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 12:30 p.m., showing as crews repaired a local antique shop.
