UIC police are investigating the shooting, in which a female victim visiting UI Health for an appointment was killed.

The shooting may be related to a domestic dispute, UIC said.

Police were on the scene on the third level of the Wood Street Parking Structure.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Shawnquanice Q. Kimbrough, 34, of Chicago.

Nearby, in the 2300-block of West Roosevelt Road, three men were inside a vehicle about 1:20 p.m., when three armed male suspects approached them, CPD said.

They fired shots into the vehicle, police said.

During the shooting, the vehicle caught fire, CPD said. Citizen app video shows police rushing into a thick plume of smoke.

A 35-year-old man was shot and pronounced dead on the scene, and a 48-year-old man was shot and pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

A 44-year-old man was shot and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene in a Tri-Taylor White Castle parking lot about 3 p.m.

Police tape blocked off the parking lot of the restaurant, located at 2356 Roosevelt Road.

The mangled SUV that engulfed in flames during the shooting was towed away with its windows shattered and its exterior charred.

Employees at a nearby business said they heard what sounded like 20 gunshots.

"I'm sure the neighborhood is very concerned, because this is a very safe neighborhood. Like I said, the three years I've been here, I've never encountered any reactions like this. It's something new, and I wanted to make sure that everybody is safe. That's why I came out here," said Kiesha Byrd, who works nearby. "I was in there just working. I just came out. I see a lot of police and stuff, and my concern was just basically making sure that me, my staff, and White Castle's people were safe."

Police said no one has been arrested in connection to the White Castle shooting.

Crime Stoppers are offering a $10,000 reward for information.

"People just don't care, and the reason why the bad guys will do that because they know that people won't step up and say something. So, we're out here giving you, the public, the outlet to report that crime," said Cook County Crime Stoppers Executive Director and Chairman Paul Rutherford.

UIC students and staff were asked to stay away from campus amid the police activity Tuesday.

UIC officials said no threat exists to the campus as of about 3 p.m.

No. 12 Roosevelt CTA buses were rerouted for hours.

Chicago police said the two incidents were not related.

Police said the three gunmen got away, and no one has been arrested. But there are multiple security cameras near this intersection, possibly with footage of the shooting that could help in the investigation.

A spokesperson at White Castle said in a statement, "We are deeply saddened by the senseless violence that occurred outside of our Roosevelt Road location today. We are cooperating with the Chicago Police Department as they investigate what happened. The restaurant will remain closed as they continue their work."
