Loyola University Medical Center facing lawsuit over organ transplants, documents show

MAYWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- Loyola University Medical Center is facing a lawsuit over organ transplants, according to documents obtained by ABC7 Chicago.

A former Loyola official says the hospital in Maywood performed risky operations to increase revenue.

The lawsuit claims patients were not properly screened and many died soon after getting transplants. Loyola allegedly continued unsafe practices to maximize Medicare billings.

Loyola said it does not comment on pending litigation.
