CHICAGO (WLS) -- Loyola University will mark the beginning of a new school year by commemorating beloved Rambler and international icon Sister Jean with a new statue on campus.
There's a brown box near Loyola's Athletic Center.
Later Friday, we'll see what's underneath during the statue unveiling and dedication ceremony.
The celebration is happening on what would be Sister Jean's 107th birthday Friday.
This will be the first Loyola Welcome Week since the chaplain's passing last October. She served more than six decades at the lakefront university.
Celebrated for her quick wit and basketball acumen, Sister Jean was universally adored and touched the lives of countless people throughout her lengthy tenure at Loyola.
Friday's celebration will include remarks and blessings from Loyola leadership.
After the statue dedication, a Loyola tradition of welcoming new students with a cheer tunnel will take place as part of "Ramblers Welcome Day."
