Man arrested by immigration agents outside suburban courthouse: VIDEO

WHEATON, Ill. (WLS) -- New video Friday appears to show federal agents arresting a man right outside the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton.

ABC7 spoke to a family member in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood about the harrowing episode.

ABC7 is not showing the identities of the man who was taken and his family because it is not clear if that man faces charges. His daughter is hoping that by speaking out others won't have to endure what she and her kids did.

Video shot by the daughter of a 52-year-old grandfather showed the man being taken into custody by agents outside the courthouse.

The family attorney told ABC7 this violates posted rules declaring the property off limits for immigration enforcement without a judicial warrant.

The family says the man was in court on an unrelated traffic matter. After it was over, they say agents approached the family car in which children were also riding and demanded he get out. After showing what, according to the family's lawyer, is an illegitimate warrant, agents eventually took the man away.

The man's daughter was driving the car. She told ABC7 she does not know where her father is. For 22 years he has worked three jobs to support his family, she says.

Now she is scared about where he might be, especially if he has been taken to the Broadview ICE processing facility, where detainees have testified in court that people there are being treated inhumanely.

"This is not making anyone's lives better. Not just mine but other families as well," she said. They're getting ripped apart from their mothers, fathers, grandparents... It's terrifying."

ABC7 Chicago has asked the Department of Homeland Security for information on the incident and has not heard back.
