Man found dead after fire breaks out in Lake in the Hills home, officials say

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was found dead after a house fire in the west suburbs on Monday afternoon, officials said.

A family member went to a Lake in the Hills home in the 1000-block of Brittany Bend to check on a relative and reported a fire there.

The Huntley Fire Protection District and the Lake in the Hills Police Department responded to the scene around 1 p.m.

Officials found no signs of an active fire outside the home, but inside, firefighters found significant damage and a man who had died. His identity was not immediately released.

The home was deemed uninhabitable due to the damage. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, but preliminary findings indicate that it does not appear to be suspicious in nature, Huntley fire officials said.
