Man killed, woman wounded in shooting near Promontory Point in Hyde Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed and a woman was hurt in a drive-by shooting near Promontory Point in the Hyde Park neighborhood Thursday night, Chicago police said.
The shooting took place at about 11:12 p.m. in the 5400-block of South Shore Drive.

Police said a man and a woman, both 25 years old, were sitting inside a parked vehicle when a vehicle drove past and someone inside fired shots at them.
Neighbors who did not want to go on camera say they saw at least three people in a car that pulled up to a parked SUV before opening fire on two victims who were sitting inside.
The man was shot in the stomach and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The woman was shot in the shoulder and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition, police said.
Crime tape sectioned off several empty parking spaces Friday.

And in the nearby South Shore neighborhood, windows were left shattered just before 10:30 p.m.
Police are searching for the suspect who, they say, shot a 36-year-old man while he was sitting in a parked car near 69th Street and Cornell Avenue.
Police say that victim was able to take himself to the University of Chicago hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Hours earlier Thursday, a man and woman were both found shot to death near the U of C campus in the 5900-block of South Ellis Avenue.
Area One detectives are investigating.
