Suspect charged in deadly shooting at Niles home, police say

NILES, Ill. (WLS) -- A suspect has been charged in Thursday's deadly shooting at a north suburban home, police said on Saturday.

Niles police said officers were notified about a shooting in the 8400-block of Greenwood at 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

Officers responded to the scene, where they found a victim who had been shot, police said. The male victim, whose age was not immediately known, was pronounced dead.

Police took a suspect into custody. Markus G. Horenberger, a 52-year-old Glenview man, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.

Horenberger is due in court on Saturday.

The Niles Police Department Investigations Division and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
