Man charged in hit-and-run crash that killed woman on North Side, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago man is facing DUI charges in the hit-and-run-crash that killed a 25-year-old woman, police said.

The crash happened Saturday at about 9:22 p.m. in the 1400-block of W. Irving Park Road, police said.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman, walked between two parked cars and onto the street when the crash happened. She died at the hospital, police said.

She was identified as Sarah Milcarek by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

She was struck by a male driver in a blue sedan, police said.

Chicago police identified the suspect as Miroslaw Ciszek, 34 of Chicago.

CPD said as the Ciszek fled the scene and struck a dark-colored SUV, which caused a chain collision with a black car.

After the second crash, police said the driver of the dark-colored SUV chased Ciszek.

Police said Ciszek then crashed into a tree and ran into a nearby building in the 4000-block of N. Ashland Avenue.

Ciszek was taken into custody in the 4200-block of N. Hermitage Avenue.

He was charged with a felony count for aggravated DUI and a felony count for leaving the scene. He was also charged with three misdemeanors on DUI charges

He is due in court on Tuesday.
