CICERO, Ill. (WLS) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a man in connection with a west suburban homicide last year.
Cicero police released images of 35-year-old Jonathan Carvillo-Varella, who they are actively looking to arrest for first-degree murder.
The warrant comes one year to the day that 40-year-old Eduardo Mora Martinez was found dead in his home in the 2800-block of South Cicero Avenue.
Friends found the victim on August 28, 2025, while conducting a well-being check after he did not show up for work or answer his phone, police said. He was found on his bedroom floor with head injuries, and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said he was believed to have been strangled.
Carvillo-Varella is a native of Venezuela.
Cicero police asked anyone with information to call Det. Gomez or Det. Barona at 708-652-2130, submit an anonymous tip at 708-863-COPS or by using the Tip411 app.
