Nina Kraus, 72, was last seen on Monday at about 9 a.m. leaving her home in the 1500-block of Ashland Avenue, police said.

Police said she left to go on a walk and left her cell phone behind.

Police said Tuesday evening that she was found close to her home in Evanston and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

So far, there is no indication of foul play.

Evanston police Cmdr. Ryan Glew said officers searched along the lakefront on Tuesday.

"We checked the areas that we thought she may have walked," Glew said.

Bloodhounds with the Cook County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit picked up a trail at her home.

"The track went to somewhere in downtown Evanston, and they're gonna be in the process of doing another track," Glew said.

ABC7 Chicago drone video shows where investigators launched their drones along the lakefront in a ramped up search for Kraus, first surveying the north side of Evanston, then the south.

Northwestern said Kraus works with the School of Communication.

Mikey Perkins says he got a call Monday around noon that his mother, Nina Kraus, had not returned to her home after going for a walk.

"She's enough of a creature of habit that that was a concern that no one had seen her for three hours," Perkins said. "It's been amazing to see everyone come out of the woodwork. Folks we know well, folks we haven't seen in a long time, people we've never met have really come out in a amazing effort to help us look for her."

Anyone with information is urged to call Evanston police.

Northwestern University police are assisting with the investigation.
